Taking Charge® holds that we are all innate learners. Thus, our capacity to learn is not a function of our intellectual, physical, biological, cultural, familial abilities or background, gender or age. We are all whole, able, and complete just the way we are and just the way we are not.

Taking Charge® uses a system of conversational analysis called Linguistic Coaching® to empower all learners to make effective choices and take personal responsibility for their own learning breakdowns and successes in life. Linguistic Coaching® is a conversation in which learners work in partnership to create a learning ecology of mutual learning, mutual trust, and mutual respect. In such a learning ecology, we are empowered to examine how our underlying self-narratives and the underlying commitments in our speaking and listening, our speech acts, close or open possibilities for learning and effective, coordinated action.
You're on a mission to reach every student. but every year, that seems to get a little harder.
You're asked to do more with less.
You're lacking the materials you need and the training to use them.

Hi, I’m Dr. Chris Reeve.
I help special ed staff like you connect with your students to build successful relationships, prevent challenging behavior and improve outcomes in the classroom by focusing on practical training, tips and printed or digital resources designed for the real-world classroom
The Open Access Project is based in the foundational belief that with access to quality curriculum & instruction, students with disabilities can engage, actively participate, and learn within inclusive settings.
The pathway includes:
-
implementing the principles of universal design for learning (UDL) across all learning environments;
-
incorporating digital tools and/or accessible technologies (AT) into the design of instruction and measurement of learning; and
-
providing access to augmentative alternative communication (AAC) strategies and supports and a commitment to building communication competence for students with complex communication needs.
CAST leads, inspires, and convenes a global community to design equitable, inclusive learning experiences through our Universal Design for Learning framework.
CAST is a nonprofit education research and development organization that created the Universal Design for Learning framework and UDL Guidelines, now used the world over to make learning more inclusive.
